Powderhorn Lake and Park, at the the heart of the Powderhorn Community, is home to the May Day Parade, Powderhorn Art Fair and the Art Sled Rally. This 68 acre park offers playing fields, community center, ice skating and 4th of July fireworks.
The Powderhorn Community of south Minneapolis includes the neighborhoods of Powderhorn Park, Corcoran, Standish, Bancroft, Bryant and Central and includes the area from 35W east to Hiawatha (Highway 55) and from Lake Street south to 42nd/43rd Street.
Immigrant shops like Ingrebretsen's, started by Sweedish immigrants of a century ago, co-exist with the Mercado Central (Lake & Bloomington) and Mogadishu Mall (Lake & Cedar). All add spice and vitality to this vibrant urban neighborhood, along with signature neighborhod establishents such as Matt's (Home of the Jucy Lucy) and May Day Cafe.
